Mount Vernon Bike Trail Boardwalk Project

Significant improvements to enhance safety and usability for pedestrians and cyclists near Dyke Marsh Wildlife Preserve.

Parks Transportation Recreation Environment

Project Overview

The Mount Vernon Trail Boardwalk Project involves a comprehensive rehabilitation of approximately 1.5 miles of the wooden boardwalk portion of the trail adjacent to Dyke Marsh Wildlife Preserve.

The existing boardwalk structure, which was built in the 1980s, has deteriorated due to age and weather exposure. This project will replace the aging wooden structure with a more durable, wider, and safer pathway.

The improved boardwalk will enhance accessibility for all trail users while respecting and protecting the sensitive wetland ecosystem of Dyke Marsh.
